Library Board

Council Contact for the Library Board 2013-2015

Serving as the Council Contact for the Library Board, I took an active role in ensuring the seamless integration of library services into our community post-annexation. This role involved more than administrative coordination; it was about fostering a collaborative environment that maximizes the library’s potential as a community hub.

Infrastructure Improvements for Community Comfort

Recognizing the library’s potential to serve as a vital community resource, I worked as a liaison between the Library Board and City Staff to upgrade the heating systems. This upgrade not only improved the comfort of library-goers but also transformed the library into a dual-purpose spaceā€”a heating and cooling center during weather extremes, providing essential refuge for those in need.

Navigating Structural Challenges

My role extended beyond infrastructure. I collaborated with the Board and City Staff to address issues with the entry roof design, ensuring safe operations during our rainy and icy seasons. This collaborative effort exemplifies my commitment to the safety and functionality of community spaces.

Guiding Strategic Transitions

As the library evolved, I facilitated the transition of responsibilities, ultimately guiding the Board to disband. This decision was made with careful consideration as Sno-Isle and the City made significant strides in collaborative operations. Additional responsibilities were smoothly transferred to the “Friends of Langley Library,” ensuring a streamlined and community-driven approach to the library’s continued success.

My experience as Council Contact for the Library Board reflects not only my commitment to the seamless integration of community services but also my strategic vision for fostering partnerships that benefit the entire Langley community.
