I’m Thomas Gill, and I’ve proudly called this community home for the past 34 years. My journey in Langley has been more than just the passage of time; it’s been a dedicated exploration marked by service, and a deep love for the unique character of our town, underscored by the challenges we’ve overcome together.
A Lifelong Commitment to Langley
Roots in the Community: My connection to Langley runs deep, forged through shared experiences and memorable moments that define our town’s uniqueness. From volunteering and working at the fair to contributing to local events and operations, I’ve been privileged to witness the vibrant spirit that defines us. There’s something truly special about the people of Whidbey Island that makes Langley and our surrounding community a place I want to be.
Service and Dedication: For eight of the last ten years, I’ve had the privilege of serving on the city council, addressing the needs and concerns of our community. Additionally, I spent four years as Chair of the Planning Advisory Board, playing a pivotal role in guiding the development and growth of our beloved city. Furthermore, for two years, I was honored to serve as the Chair of the Civil Service Board, guiding the civilian oversight of the Langley Police during challenging times.
Why I’m Running for Mayor
A Vision for Responsible Growth: Langley stands at a crucial juncture, and I believe in navigating the path of growth responsibly while preserving the essence that makes us who we are. My vision is one of balanced progress, where we embrace change while safeguarding the aspects of our community that we hold dear.
Inclusivity and Sustainability: I envision a Langley that is inclusive, where every voice is heard and valued. Our differences bring us strength, and sustainability is not just a buzzword for me—it’s a commitment to ensuring that our beautiful town remains a thriving, green haven for generations to come. While we may not be able to have a huge impact on the health of our planet, we must do what we can to lessen our impact on it.
